Anti Virus Software:

Microsoft Security Essentialshttp://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials

It gives me real-time protection that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.  Microsoft Security Essentials runs quietly in the background – I set up my preferences to work automatically and that it.  Again, not spyware or adware.

System Care:

Advanced SystemCare -- at http://www.iobit.com/systemcare.html
It heals and speeds up my PC in just 1 click.  It's simple and effective way to protect, clean, repair, and optimize my PC. They do not insert adware to your PC and they do not spy on you.
Advanced SystemCare has received very positive reviews from:  Forbes, CNET and PC Magazine.

CCleaner is a privacy and cleaning tool.  It removes unused files from my system - allows Windows to run faster and frees up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of my online activities; internet history, form history, cookies, etc.  Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner (but I don’t use it – see software above).  It contains NO Spyware or Adware!

It’s been reviewed by the following:  http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/reviews

IObit Uninstaller -- http://www.iobit.com/advanceduninstaller.html

I used to only use the Windows “Add-Remove” program feature, until finding this.  The free version (didn’t see a need for the upgrade version) will clean all the left over registry entries and odd files left behind that a regular uninstall does not remove.

NOTE:  This program does not install itself on your computer.  I just use a shortcut link on my desktop each time I uninstall a program.   See awards and reviews of this software at the page linked above.
